In a major success for the Indian security forces, two terrorists were gunned down by the Indian Army while attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The anti-infiltration operation, codenamed “Operation ShivShakti,” was launched following precise intelligence inputs jointly gathered by the Indian Army’s intelligence units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).

According to a post by the Army’s White Knight Corps on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alert soldiers engaged the infiltrators with swift and accurate firepower, successfully foiling their infiltration attempt.

“#OPERATION SHIVSHAKTI – In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists… Three weapons have been recovered,” the post read.

The Army praised the synergy between the Army and police, crediting their coordinated intelligence sharing for the success of the operation.
Further details are awaited as the operation remains in progress.

This encounter follows another successful counterterrorism operation earlier this week. On Monday, three terrorists were neutralised in Operation Mahadev near Lidwas in the Harwan area of Srinagar, close to Dachigam National Park.

The Army’s Chinar Corps had earlier confirmed the firefight in a post on X: “OP MAHADEV – Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his address in the Lok Sabha, confirmed that the terrorists involved in the recent Pahalgam civilian killings were among those eliminated in Operation Mahadev.

Both operations signal the security forces’ renewed offensive posture along the LoC and in the Valley, as part of a broader crackdown following recent terrorist attacks.
